Youthtopia Inhalte der Seite Workshops and Barcamp Orga Facts Participate Anmeldung Contact Jetzt spenden The third nationwide action meeting of Brot für die Welt Jugend (Bread for the World Youth) will take place from 30.8.-1.9.2019 in Weimar. This year's theme is "Education instead of child labour". Exciting workshops, a creative street action on the Theaterplatz, music and fun await you! We are especially looking forward to the community of many committed young people, the intercultural exchange and the exchange of utopias and ideas for a world that is worth living in, fair and happy. Global Community The shaping of a global society requires international encounters and community. However, for cost and environmental reasons, we did not want to invite participants who have to travel by plane. That's why we are simply inviting people who already are in Germany anyway. Young people from Cameroon, Costa Rica, Georgia and other countries, who are currently completing a voluntary service in Germany or are studying in Germany will be attending Youthtopia 2019. WORKSHOPS AND BARCAMP We will organise several workshops. Whether you want to really get into one topic, need tips for developing your own actions, want to be creative or need some movement: there will be something for everyone. At the Barcamp you can also contribute your own workshop ideas. Many topics of the workshops could easily fit into a seminar that lasts several days. Nevertheless, we decided to offer many short workshops rather than a few long ones. This way you can get an insight into different topics and experience Youthtopia in its colorful versatility. 100 Million – Education instead of Child Labour! The worldwide campaign "100 Million" campaigns for a world in which all young people can live free, safe and educated. Film clips and photos will introduce you to impressive examples illustrating the fight against child labour. We will tell you about the start and the first political successes of the campaign. Together we'll develop ideas on how you can get involved in the global campaign. The workshop will be offered once in German and once in Spanish. with: Christina Margenfeld (Brot für die Welt) and 100 Million-Team (Brot für die Welt Jugend) No Weapons for Child Soldiers Light weapons are needed in order to use children as soldiers. Germany's weapon industry supplies them directly to conflict zones. Instead of banning this rigorously, the German government authorises these weapon exports. In this workshop we take a closer look at the context. You will also get to know Red Hand Day and "Aktion Aufschrei - Stoppt den Waffenhandel" (Scream for Action - Stop the Arms Trade). with: Eine Welt Netzwerk Thüringen Fair Trade as Role Model Since decades Fair Trade practices economic activities respecting human rights. That should be a given for all corporations. With "100 Million" we campaign for a law that obliges corporations to do that. But how can corporations ensure the no child labour takes place in the supply chain? In the workshop we will answer that question with the experiences from the Fair Trade Movement. with: Weltladendachverband, Gepa, EWNT Which rights do children have? The 100 Million Campaign is committed to make sure, that every child can grow up free, safe and educated. This is every child's right. In this workshop, we want to take a close look at what rights already had been established for children for a long time, what rights are still being violated, what rights may still be needed and what can be done to ensure that children's rights are respected. with: Eine Welt Netzwerk Thüringen Participation Young people have rights and opportunities to help shape their own place of education or work. Just imagine, it is school and everybody wants to join. This may happen, if young people take responsibility for their environment and shape it in a way that is good for them. In this workshop, we will get to know the rights of young people in Germany in general and democratic participation rights in particular. Together, we will reflect on how youth participation can be strengthened. with: mehr als lernen Creating Actions Creative actions can make your utopia strong. You need them to prevent or stop destructive projects. Which action formats are there? What kind of action fits which topic? How can you develop creative ideas together? Which methods help to plan an action well? What do you have to consider legally? If you feel like implementing actions for a better world, you'll get the tools here. with: Jutta Sundermann (angefragt) The War in Cameroon and Possibilities of Civil Peace Management There is a war going on in the west of Cameroon. People fear for their lives and live in danger. Hundreds of thousands are on the run. In this workshop, Cynthia from Cameroon will report about the situation. Then we will discuss peaceful possibilities of conflict management. You will also get to know the action "Zivil statt militärisch" (civil instead of military). with: Cynthia Mungo (Brot für die Welt Jugend) und EWNT Parkour Parkour is the art of efficient mobility. On the way towards our utopias there are many obstacles to overcome. In the Parkour workshop we want to experience this physically. With training, the perception of one's own movement possibilities change. The view on the environment also changes. What was just an obstacle is suddenly part of a sequence of movements. With warming up, a bit of strength training and playful movement exercises, you will understand what is important when running, jumping, rolling, falling, landing and climbing. For this workshop you will need comfortable clothing. with: Amadeusz Czulak (Motion Playground) The Secret of Samba Not only the Brazilian dance is called Samba, but also music. Like Capoeira in Brazil, Samba represents an "expression of cultural resistance", since it survived the time of the suppression of African culture by the state despite being prohibited. In this workshop you will get a first insight into the secret of Samba and you will be able to test yourself as "sambistas" with percussion instruments. with: Escola Popular Designing T-Shirts You want to get creative? With good music vibes and relaxation you will be able to design your own Brot für die Welt Jugend shirt. with: Dorina Diesing (Brot für die Welt Jugend) Rasicm and Critical Whiteness Racism is a current problem in many societies. “Critical Whiteness” is the attempt to reflect on the social construct of being White. In this workshop, we will question daily guidelines, ways of thinking and privileges that are connected to “being white”. Furthermore, we will discuss how development politics can tackle the challenges of intercultural communication. with: Marc Bechtold (Brot für die Welt Jugend), EIRENE, EWNT (angefragt) Nonviolent Communication Every day we communicate with our fellow human beings – and we don’t always understand what the other one tries to say. Conflicts are especially exhausting and difficult. This introduction into non-violent communication develops ideas how to stay authentic, souvereign and respectfull in conflict situations, how to hear and understand difficult messages, how to handle anger constructively and how to communicate a different opinion. We will learn the theory with practical exercises. with: Eckhard Röhm (Brot für die Welt) Capoeira Capoeira connects Fight and Dance, Force and Dynamic, Choreography and Improvisation. With Capoeira, you can train your self-perception and rhythm. This may help you to treat yourself more conscious and to handle situatuations that are constantly changing. The workshop will give you an insight into Capoeira and, with a lot of physical exercise, will leave you longing more. The spoken language is not focused on here. Capoeira can build bridges between Humans, Countries and Cultures. with: Ruben Marschall (Escola Popular) Zumba Zumba is rhythm, fitness and latino music, consisting out of Hip-Hop, Soca, Salsa, Merengue and Mambo. In this workshop, you will have a lot of fun and be able to exhaust yourself. Maybe we will be able to work on a little Choreography, that we can perform during OpenStage night! with: Paula Lottmann Juggling The dancing of synapses enables your right half of the brain and the whole brain will work twice as good afterwards. Juggling is fun, enhances your rhythm and balance. In this short workshop you won’t learn how to juggle perfectly, but we can show you some tricks for practice! Next to juggling balls we can throw Pois and Flower Sticks through the air! with: Motion Playground Forum Theatre Augusto Boal made „Theatre for the oppressed“ during the brasilian military dictatorshop in the 60s and brought social conflicts to the streets and plazas of Rio de Janeiro. Possibilities of action were searched together with the audience. In this workshop you will get a short introduction into Forum Theatre and will be able to test some games and exercises. with: EWNT Designing Stickers and Buttons With Stickers and Buttons one can casually highlight a message. Together with Dorina from the Youth Committee you will think about new Sticker and Button Designs for the Bread for the World Youth Movement. You will be able to make some prototypes. with: Dorina Diesing (Brot für die Welt Jugend) Many thanks to all contributors, especially to Escola Popular and the Eine Welt Netzwerk Thüringen!
