Coordinator (f/m/x) for setting up the program of the Civil Peace Service in Myanmar

Background

The Civil Peace Service enables the search and change for peace by the personnel secondment of international peace workers. About 1.400 peace workers worldwide have been part of this movement. There are different activities for peace processes thanks to the support of states, churches and civil society. With their networks and local partners at various levels of society, the churches worldwide offer direct access and opportunities to open spaces for peace processes.

Bread for the World is part of the Protestant Agency for Diakonie and Development in Germany. Together with KURVE Wustrow and World Peace Service, Bread for the World takes part of the peace movement support in Myanmar.

This position is designed on the bases of a personnel secondment according to the German Development Worker Act through Dienste in Übersee. Dienste in Übersee is a subsidiary of the Protestant Agency for Diakonie and Development in Germany, which supports professionals/civil peace workers for development service with church and non-profit organizations in Africa, Asia, the Caucasus, Latin America and the Pacific.

In order to set up strategically the Civil Peace Service with commitment and appropriate attitude, we are searching for a coordinator in Yangón. The future candidate will communicate to the regional desk in Berlin on a regularly basis.

 

Job Scope

You would work to fortify the link between partner organisations, civil peace workers and Bread for the World in the framework of Civil Peace Service (CPS) in Myanmar, by facilitating processes and projects.

You would be responsible for the following:

  • Implementing the office of CPS with KURVE Wustrow and World Peace Service
  • Introducing and orientating civil peace workers and partners into the program
  • Cooperating and networking according to the CPS country strategy for Myanmar
  • Strategic planning, project monitoring and evaluation
  • Further developing of the approach and program
  • Contributing to the facilitation of exchange, reflection and learning processes
  • Advising partner organisations on risk and safety management
  • Assisting delegations visits

 

Qualification Profile

  • A relevant background (minimum bachelor)
  • A sound experience in project management, preferably in nongovernmental organizations
  • Experience in assisting intercultural groups in learning and reflection processes
  • Competency in English (both written and spoken)
  • Strong logical and analytical skills
  • Diplomatic and intercultural communication skills and sensitivity
  • Openness and motivation to integrate with the culture of the region
  • Willingness to travel for business in the region

Citizenship of a Member State of the European Union or of Switzerland is required.
