Our project partners are asked to submit an annual report. Photo: Thomas Lohnes
"Bread for the World" is obliged to account to its donors for the way in which it uses its funds. Every year the German Central Institute of Social Issues (Deutsches Zentralinstitut für soziale Fragen / DZI) examines how the funds have been used and awards a seal of approval to the work of "Bread for the World". The annual report provides information on the organisation’s main activities and publicises the allocation of funds.
Net administrative costs account for roughly 6% of income. The allocation of funds is also subject to accounting principles. The project partner is asked to submit an annual financial report which has to be certified and approved by an independent auditor. Staff members of the controlling department of "Bread for the World" visit the partners in their respective countries to inspect the project, discuss specific issues and, if necessary, to give advice.
